The Cardrona Distillery produces beautifully crafted spirits in its collection of masterfully designed buildings housing the premium copper stills. The concept of establishing the most southerly whisky distillery in the world dates back nearly 20 years for Disiree Whitaker which has now become a family reality. The stills come from different locations, the whisky stills from fourth generation coppersmiths in Scotland, a German still for the single malt vodka and the bespoke gin still made in Timaru. The crafted spirits are made from key raw ingredients onsite. The tour comprises of a journey through the working distillery and barrelhouse and finishes with a tutored tasting of the Cardrona Distillery’s artisan spirits.
We look forward to showing you around.

Central Otago is New Zealand’s coolest wine region, and with its location – almost at the bottom of South Island – it is the world’s most southerly wine region.

Scott Base Vineyard is the Central Otago vineyard of winemaking pioneer Allan Scott. Scott Base is uniquely positioned on an elevated hillside with stunning views of the Pisa Range, the town of Cromwell and Lake Dunstan. The tasting room known as Space at the Base is a cosy and relaxed venue where you can enjoy award-winning wines from both Scott Base and the Scott’s Marlborough vineyards. The tasting room also has Moa craft beer on offer, with Allan Scott’s son Josh being the founder of Moa Beer.

Misha’s Vineyard is spectacularly located on the edge of Lake Dunstan in the Bendigo sub-region of Central Otago. The sun drenched north-west facing terraces of the 57- hectare estate provide optimal conditions for producing Pinot Noir and aromatic white varieties. Owners Andy & Misha Wilkinson established the vineyard with a ‘no compromise’ philosophy which requires an exacting viticulture regime, hand-picking, and considerate winemaking methodologies. Renowned winemaker Olly Masters is at the helm of the winemaking with Misha’s Vineyard consistently receiving outstanding accolades including being named one of New Zealand’s Top 20 Wine Producers by the esteemed Decanter (UK) magazine. Misha’s Vineyard wines are found in premium hotels, restaurants and fine wine retailers in more than 20 countries around the world.

The Wooing Tree is situated in the heart of Central Otago next to the town of Cromwell and opposite the ‘Big Fruit Sculpture’. It is a family owned single vineyard site, producing multi award winning wines. The location provides a perfect mix of various sub-regional climates and optimum heat degree-days.
On the original land ( pre vineyard) there is a tree called the Wooing Tree and it had long been a popular place for locals to ‘woo’ their lovers. There have been many stories of people being conceived under the tree and has remained a part of history in the hearts of the locals! Now the tree sits prominently in the middle of the vineyard and is the brand logo. The vineyard is now being referred to as Cromwell’s iconic vineyard and is fast becoming a popular place for marriage proposals and weddings.

Benjer Drinks Company

The Benjer Drinks Co was established more than 20 years ago, in the small town of Ettrick located in Central Otago and is now located in Cromwell. The juices and ciders are produced mostly from locally grown fruit and ingredients in the Cromwell area. These drinks have won several awards and have been nationally recognised and enjoyed in New Zealand for numerous years.

It was a great Dram Tour. I really enjoyed all the different flavours of juices and wines. Before tasting each wine the hostess/ attendant would tell you about the history and flavour.

Wow! This is a great day out for locals and tourists to the area! I went on the Dram Tour with a group of friends on 19 January. The owner/driver added a friendly and informative sottish flavor to the tour to the Cadrona Distillery near Wanaka; the Wooing Tree and Scott Base vine yards in Cromwell. Linda at the Distillery gave an excellent tour around the facility and for the tasting held in a private room for our group. I learnt heaps at all venues which had been well selected for their excellence and high quality. We all enjoyed travelling around the very roomy and comfortable van – much better than just going as a couple. This is a great way to enjoy the day without having to worry about “drink-driving”! Lindsay is a great host/driver ! Very good value for money!

Very enjoyable day. Began with trip up the beautiful Cadrona valley to the Cadrona Distillery. Shuttle took us past the car park right up to the entrance of this magnificent complex. There we were met by Linda our guide and offered refreshments. So with coffee in hand it was off for a very interesting tour of the distillery. Just stepping into that delicious aroma of malt and yeast was an enjoyable experience on its own!! ? Then it was into the tasting room where we were invited to experience the flavours of fine liqueurs produced on site. Next it was on to Cromwell where we sampled some delicious fruit juices at the Cider House. This was followed by visits to two local wineries, Scott Base and The Wooing Tree, where we enjoyed generous tastings of their medal winning wines. A great day out with a great driver/host. Highly recommend this experience.

I recently had the enjoyable experience of doing the Dram tour with a group of friends. Looking through the Cadrona Distillery was a fascinating experience and having a guide to explain the process of fermentation and distilling was most informative. We were able to sample several Central Otago fruit juices at the Cider House in Cromwell and then many fine wines at Scott Base and The Wooing Tree wineries. A very relaxing tour with our Scottish Host/Driver. Lindsay, you have a great sense of humour. Not a dull moment! Highly recommend this tour.

Wow what a great day Lindsay, the drive around Central was amazing and the people we met were fun to be with. I especially enjoyed the distillery visit, our guide Linda has great knowledge of the industry. The tasting of the different spirits showed us how much they put into making them. On to the cider house and the local wineries. There again we were hosted by people with a heart for their wines, never realized how many wines can be made from one type of grape vine! Thanks for a fantastic day Lindsay, we all enjoyed ourselves, still talking about it.

Had a great day out with Lindsay and a group of friends. The Cardrona Distillery tour was really interesting and informative, and we even got a sneak preview of their cherry liqueur – can’t wait for this to be in a bottle! Next up was Scott Base, a cute wee cabin with hilltop views of Lake Dunstan. Then onto a cidery and juicery, left with a Rose cider and feijoa juice. Two more wineries to finish off – Misha’s (only open for a week, delicious sweet reisling), and Wooing Tree which was my favourite. Great variety of flavours all over and a fun day out – cheers Lindsay!
